Welcome to the Sunol Valley Men's Golf Club!

About the Club

The Sunol Valley Men's Golf Club originated at Sunol Valley Golf Course in 1969.  Upon closing of the golf course in December of 2015, the club transitioned to an NCGA Associate Club in January 2016.

As an Associate Club, the club now holds one tournament each month (usually on Saturday mornings), January thru December highlighted by its two-day Club Championship (Sat & Sun event) in November. In 2017, the club introduced its inaugural Match Play Championship. In 2023, the final match will be held at The Presidio Golf Course. In an effort to better serve its members surrounding Sunol and the greater bay area, the club selects three to six golf courses that are in rotation throughout its annual schedule; for the 2023 season, those courses are Rancho Solano, Coyote Creek - Valley Course, Chardonnay, Poppy Ridge, Metropolitan, Sunnyvale, Dublin Ranch, and The Villages. A special event date is added each year held at an "upscale" course; in 2023, that location is The Presidio Golf Course and is run in conjunction with the club's Match Play Finals.

Within its monthly tournaments, the club holds three NCGA Associate Club qualifying events, closest-to-the-pin competitions, and runs an optional handicapped and scratch skins game split into two divisions each (A and B) based on handicap. The club is broken down into four player flights. To enable players to compete against other players of similar abilities, these member flights are split equally based on NCGA handicap index.  The club holds a year-long Points Championship by flight and a year-long Club Championship qualifying by flight, culminating in a two-day match play event to determine a club champion! The club has also added in an annual Hole-in-One pot that is "winner take all!"  If there are no Hole-in-One’s during the year, the pot splits 60/40 between the two closest-to-the-pin winners throughout the year! In addition, the club has an optional match play competition held over an eight-month period.
