The Sunol Valley Men’s Golf Club blends tradition with modern competition—bringing together golfers from across the Bay Area who love the game and enjoy testing it against friends.

 

About the Club

Founded in 1969 at Sunol Valley Golf Course, the Sunol Valley Men’s Golf Club has a proud and enduring history. When the original course closed in December 2015, the club didn’t fade—it evolved. In January 2016, we transitioned into an NCGA Associate Club, expanding our reach while preserving the competitive spirit that has defined us for decades.

Today, the club hosts one tournament each month, January through December, typically on Saturday mornings. The season peaks with our two-day Club Championship each October, a true test of consistency, pressure, and match-play grit.

To best serve our membership, we rotate tournament venues throughout the Tri-Valley, East Bay, South Bay, and North Bay, while also sprinkling in special destination events to places like Monterey, the Central Valley, and the Coast.

 

How We Compete

Every monthly event delivers more than just a scorecard:

• Unique formats

• Flight competitions

• Closest-to-the-Pin contests

• Optional Scratch and Net Skins, split into A & B divisions by handicap
   

Members are grouped into four flights, evenly distributed by NCGA Handicap Index to ensure competitive balance. From there, the fun lasts all year:

• Season-long Points Championship (by flight)

• Season-long Club Championship qualifying, culminating in a two-day match play finale to crown the Club Champion

• Annual Hole-in-One Pot — winner take all

  • No aces? The pot pays out 60/40 to the top two closest-to-the-pin winners

 

The competitive calendar also includes marquee team events:

• A Ryder Cup–style, two-day match versus On The Road Again Golf Club

• Clash of the Clubs, a one-day, invite-only team competition

Annual Membership Dues — $125

Your dues cover far more than a handicap card:

• NCGA membership and official handicap index

• Annual Hole-in-One Pot

• Prize funds for:

  • Year-long Points Championship (by flight, pays four spots)

  • Year-long Club Championship race (by flight, pays four spots)

• Paid team entries into:

  • NCGA Associate Club Championship (four-man team)

  • NCGA Associate Club Four-Ball Championship (two-man team)

  • NCGA Associate Club Senior Four-Ball Championship (two-man team)

• Perpetual trophies and Club Champion awards

• General club expenses

 

Tournament Fees — $100 per event

(Applies to all standard events)

Includes:

• Green fees

• Golf cart

• Tournament prize fund

• Range balls at select courses
